On April 24, a memorial ceremony, with limited number of participants, dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was organised in front of the khachkar in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide at the premises of St. Gregory the Illuminator Church in Odessa.

A memorial service was held by the pastor of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Odessa, Ter-Abgar Kelejyan.

Gevorg Petrossian, Consul General of Armenia in Odessa, Tigran Harutyunyan, President of the Armenian community of Odessa, deputies of the Odessa Regional Council headed by Vadim Shkarovskiy, First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Council, and Ukrainian-Armenians participated in the event.

The attendees laid flowers at the memorial of the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide.

In his speech, Gevorg Petrossian noted that because of the situation regarding the pandemic it was decided to hold one of the important days for the Armenian people, the commemoration of the victims of the 1915 Armenian Genocide, with a small group. This year, the traditional populous events dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide have been cancelled in all countries of the world, and today, on April 24, only flowers will be placed by the monuments in commemoration of the Armenian Genocide. Closed door liturgies were served in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and in all the shrines of the Armenian Apostolic Church, and at 12 o'clock the bells of all the churches rang in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide. The Consul General emphasised that the genocide is a serious crime against humanity and it is necessary to condemn the Armenian Genocide in order to prevent the repetition of the crime against other people throughout the history of mankind. We should not forget that remembering is a moral obligation for the Armenian nation and our motto has always been "I remember and demand". At the end of his speech, Gevorg Petrossian wished everyone good health, strength and vigour to overcome the difficulties that have been created today by the extraordinary conditions of self-isolation and restrictions.
